Fit in the city – Climbing

Whether you are coming to Salzburg for business or enjoying the city and its sights. A stay can be exhausting and tiring. We will give you the best tips to stay fit with activity and sport.

Climbing experience in the city

If you are looking for a special sport and leisure experience in the city, you should try climbing. The indoor climbing in climbing halls and sports centers has become more and more popular in recent years. Whether on the rope or free when bouldering – there are different possibilities depending on your preferences and a corresponding course offer.

On the Kapuziner Mountain

If you prefer to climb outdoors, you do not have to go to the countryside. In Salzburg, you have the possibility to explore a climbing wall with several routes at the Kapuziner Mountain. The “City Wall” in the “Glockengasse” was established by the Salzburg Naturfreunde and is also waited by them.

The City Wall at the Kapuziner Mountain

The City Wall stretches over about 70 meters of altitude and a route length of about 100 meters. It has several climbing routes in difficulty levels from A to D. Attention: Please inquire in advance, which of the routes is suitable for you, as some have overhanging places and are only suitable for practiced climbers. If you are a beginner, you may want to explore the climbing route with a mountain guide who can give you lots of great tips.
As a special experience, a “Flying Fox” is ready for the “descent”, which will bring you back down on the double.

What do you need?

The equipment for climbing can be borrowed on site. You only have to bring solid footwear and weather appropriate comfortable clothes.
The climb is open from July to March. From April to June it is not allowed to use the climbing route to protect the breeding birds.
The City Wall is freely accessible, the entrance is in the “Glockengasse” next to the parking garage. You can reach it from our two Salzburg hotels IMLAUER Hotel Pitter Salzburg and Hotel IMLAUER & Bräu in about 15 walking minutes.
