Fit in the city – Running

Whether you are coming to Salzburg for business or enjoying the city and its sights. A stay can be exhausting and tiring. We will give you the best tips to stay fit with activity and sport.

Running is good for the soul

Running is the ideal sport that you can do anytime and anywhere. No matter where you are, a pair of running shoes and light clothing are enough and you are part of it. When running, you can relax wonderfully or exhaust properly. Salzburg offers some beautiful running courses, which score with the historic city as a backdrop. We present you three routes that you can easily reach from our two Salzburg hotels, IMLAUER Hotel Pitter Salzburg and Hotel IMLAUER & Bräu.
The IMLAUER Hotel Pitter Salzburg offers you a special service. In the lobby, you will find running maps, water, towels and fresh fruit.

The most beautiful garden in Austria

Only a 5-minute walk from our two hotels lies the Mirabell Palace, where you can turn your rounds through the beautiful garden. The garden is open daily from about 6 am in the morning and closes with nightfall. The route is not exhausting and more suitable for short running. You run on fine pebble paths and can enjoy the beautiful garden.

On the banks of the river Salzach

A beautiful panoramic view that takes you past historic buildings with an unobstructed view of the fortress of Salzburg. From our two hotels, you can simply run from the roundabout along the Markus Sittikus street in the direction of the river and can run along the Salzach. The length of the track can be easuky varied. Depending on how long you want to run, choose one of the bridges across the Salzach river and return on the other side of the river. The entire Salzach promenade is asphalted.

On top of the Kapuziner Mountain

Our third run is challenging and offers some heights. From our two hotels, you pass the square in front of the Mirabell Palace and continue to Linzergasse. From there, head to Kapuziner Mountain. The steep ascent of 220 meters has probably to be done on foot, but at the top you will find a beautiful forest area through which several paths lead. There is always a little up and down, so you should have a certain condition. From Kapuziner Mountain you have beautiful views over the city. At the other end of the long-drawn mountain lies the “Franziskischlössel”, where one can enjoy a refreshment.
