The heat escaped

The best way to keep fit during the summer and refresh yourself at the warm temperatures is swimming. Whether on the country side or in the city, outdoor and indoor swimming pools can be found everywhere. As a visitor to a strange city, you do not need many things to enjoy the cool water. We will introduce you to the outdoor and indoor pools of Salzburg and we will make you want a round of refreshment.´


“Volksgartenbad” and “Aya-Bad”

The “Volksgartenbad” is the oldest outdoor swimming pool in the city and has two pools, a children’s pool and a splash pool for the little ones. The children’s pool area is protected by a sun sail. The beautiful complex also has a beach volleyball court and the possibility to play table tennis. The “Volksgartenbad” is open daily from 9 am to 7 pm, during bad weather on Sundays and public holidays from 9 am to 12 noon.
The “Aya-Bad” / Outdoor pool Alpenstraße has an outdoor pool as well as an indoor pool. With its generous opening hours, the bath is especially user-friendly. The outdoor pool is open daily from 7 am to 7 pm. The indoor pool is open on weekdays from 7 am to 9 pm, on Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm.

Outdoor pool “Leopoldskron”

A special bathing fun promises the “Leopoldskron” outdoor pool, which is lovingly called by the local “Lepi”. It has five swimming pools with a total water surface area of 3,200 m², making it the largest outdoor swimming pools in Salzburg. The bath also has a 72-meter-long water slide, a 14-meter-long broad slide, a ten-meter jump tower, islands, fountains, palm trees and an attractive children’s area.
In addition to the bathing fun, you can also find table tennis, minigolf, billiards and beach volleyball. The pools are open daily from 9 am to 7 pm, during bad weather on Sundays and public holidays from 9 am to 12 noon.


Swimming Lake Liefering – Salzach lakes

A real natural bathing experience can be found in the Liefering swimming lake, the Salzach lakes. The Salzach lakes in the north of the city are a wonderful recreational area. The smallest of these lakes is used as a swimming lake with 22,000 m² of water surface and a maximum depth of 3 meters. Besides swimming, there is the possibility for beach volleyball and football. The lake area can be used free of charge, but it is not allowed to bring dogs. A pool attendent is on duty daily from 9 am to 7 pm from May to September.


Take a break and enjoy the refreshing cool down. There is bathing fun for the whole family!
