You have to look closely to spot these two heads. In autumn and winter, however, when the tendrils become somewhat thinner, they are easy to recognize. <\/p>\n
How did the faces get into the wall?
There are several theories about this.
One says that they are the heads of statues that used to be placed on the roof of the castle. It is possible that the statues fell victim to the great city fire of 1818 and the heads were then incorporated into the wall near the castle in order to save at least some of the statues. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

With its medieval charm, the narrow alley is a tip in itself.
It is also good to know that Joseph Mohr, the lyricist of the famous Christmas carol \u201cSilent Night! Holy Night!\u201d, is said to have lived at Steingasse 31. <\/p>\nBut what we would like to show you is a piece of exciting contemporary history<\/strong>. Go to the film culture center \u201cDas Kino\u201d. Right at the corner of the cinema, where Steingasse narrows again, you can see a piece of wall that has been broken out. This was the exact spot where American soldiers got stuck in their tank during the last days of the Second World War. In the end, the soldiers even had to be cut out in order to free them from their predicament. <\/p>\nSome say behind closed doors that the soldiers wanted to pay a visit to the traditional brothel \u201cMaison de Plaisier\u201d in Steingasse.
