Cult for more than 150 years: the PitterKeller is one of the oldest beer cellars in the city. The combination of history and modernity is unique in Salzburg. A little journey through time awaits you. The historical murals create a charming contrast to the dark wood-paneled walls. Cosy niches and the small wooden platforms convey a unique charm and a special cosiness that has characterized the PitterKeller for many decades.

Regionality and sustainability are very important to the Imlauer family & team. With the Austrian Ecolabel a sign is set here.

Come and see for yourself how unique this location in IMLAUER Hotel Pitter Salzburg is. We look forward to meeting you!

Enjoy classic Austrian cuisine

When it comes to the classic Austrian cuisine at the PitterKeller, guests and locals alike go into raptures. Excellent, home-style cooking – just as it should be. Fancy a little taste? Try, for example, the “Wiener Schnitzel” of veal with parsley potatoes and cranberries. The homemade, original “Pinzgauer Kasnockn” are the favorite dish of many PitterKeller guests. Or the oven-fresh roast pork, which we bring to your table in a traditional Reindl – perfectly rounded off with bread dumplings and coleslaw. As a sweet finish, the fluffy, homemade Kaiserschmarrn is worth a sin. Or the classic sweet and fluffy Salzburger Nockerl for 2 people.

No matter what culinary delight you decide on:

You can’t come to the PitterKeller and not have a beer. After all, beer has been brewed in Salzburg for more than 600 years now! Our cool, refreshing speciality beers not only quench your thirst, but also perfectly round off your meal of local delicacies. As it’s a beer cellar, the choice is correspondingly large. This is one of the many reasons why the PitterKeller is one of Salzburg’s certified alehouses, and also a stop on the Salzburg beer trail.

Take a look inside our famous beer directory.

We present our beer specialties on several pages here – such as the many house and specialty beers from Stiegl Bier. Every year, the seasonally changing beers create a varied, enjoyable and very individual journey through beer history and tradition. Join us on this exciting journey of enjoyment and try the wide range of beers in the PitterKeller – you will be amazed at how diverse beer can be! Of course, we also have a large selection of excellent wines and non-alcoholic drinks for you.

A successful combination of tradition and modernity!

The PitterKeller is a real Salzburg institution! The first glass of beer was served here on May 1, 1865. Back then, this place of hospitality was still called “Bergerbräuers-Bierhalle”. Later known as the Jugendstilkeller or Volkskeller, the PitterKeller has been a popular meeting place for locals and guests alike since 1926.
Today, the traditional and rustic-charming PitterKeller presents itself in the modern ambience of the IMLAUER Hotel Pitter Salzburg. You can reach it easily and barrier-free from the Pitter Event Center via an escalator – a special wish of Georg Imlauer, who is reminded of his time as a waiter on cruise ships on the high seas by the escalator.
