Eat and have fun at this legendary culinary location
PitterKeller
A cult place for over 100 years: the PitterKeller is not merely one of the oldest beer cellars in the city. It is a real Salzburg institution! Previously known as the Jugendstilkeller, the PitterKeller has been a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike since 1926.
By the way, you can get from the modern Pitter Event Center to the rustic and charming PitterKeller via an escalator – a special request of Georg Imlauer, who felt that the escalator would remind him of his time on cruise ships on the high seas. This combination of history and modernity is unique for the city of Salzburg. You can travel through time in the PitterKeller itself. The ancient murals create an appealing contrast to the dark-wood-panelled walls. The cosy corners and small wooden platforms provide a unique charm and a special cosiness which has marked out the PitterKeller for many decades.
PitterKeller is open for you:
Tuesday to Friday 11.00 am – 02.00 pm & 05:00 – 9.30 pm
Saturday 05.00 – 9.30 pm
At this year’s trade fair “Alles für den Gast”, we are once again able to pamper you with additional dates.
Additional opening hours:
Sunday, November 10, 2024 & Monday, November 11, 2024
open from 5 p.m. (hot food until 9:30 p.m.)
Come and see for yourself how unique this location is. We look forward to meeting you!

Speaking of “standing out”:
Speaking of “standing out”: When it comes to the PitterKeller’s classic Austrian cuisine, both tourists and locals come in their droves. Real home cooking – just as it should be. Fancy a little something? Try for example Salzburger veal schnitzels, filled with spicy cheese, juicy ham and mushrooms. With them, we serve delicious roast potatoes and fresh spring onions. Or roasted pork, straight from the oven, which we bring to your table in its roasting tin – with bread dumplings and coleslaw as the perfect accompaniment. As a sweet ending to your meal, a fluffy homemade Kaiserschmarrn (a fluffy shredded pancake) is definitely worth the calories. Or go for the classic airy and sweet Salzburger Nockerl (a sweet soufflé) for 2.
No matter what culinary delight you decide on:
You can’t come to the PitterKeller and not have a beer. After all, beer has been brewed in Salzburg for more than 600 years now! Our cool, refreshing speciality beers not only quench your thirst, but also perfectly round off your meal of local delicacies. As it’s a beer cellar, the choice is correspondingly large. This is one of the many reasons why the PitterKeller is one of Salzburg’s certified alehouses, and also a stop on the Salzburg beer trail.
Take a look inside our famous beer directory.
Many of the pages detail our speciality beers – such as Stiegl’s numerous standard and speciality beers. Every year, the seasonal beers offer a varied, enjoyable and individual journey through the history of and traditions around beer. If requested in advance, we’re more than happy to offer you your own beer keg. Come with us on this exciting pleasure trip and test yourself against the large range of beers on offer in the PitterKeller – you’ll be amazed at just how different beers can be! Of course we also have a large selection of very good wines and non-alcoholic drinks for you.
