THE PLACE TO ENJOY
TOP-LEVEL GOLF COURSE: INVESTMENTS AND INNOVATIONS AT IMLAUER HOTEL SCHLOSS PICHLARN
Golfing at the highest level – this is what the traditional golf course at the IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn in Styria in the heart of Austria stands for. In order to be able to offer golfers a unique playing experience in the future, around 3 million euros have been invested in the modernization and further development of the golf course over the past two years.
With innovative training facilities, state-of-the-art technology and a course that is one of the most beautiful in Austria, the IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn and the Schloss Pichlarn Golf & Country Club are setting new standards and underlining their ambition to become part of the Leading Golf Courses and join the European golfing elite.
From a traditional course to a modern golf experience
After the 50th anniversary of Golf & Country Club Schloss Pichlarn in 2022 – with the opening of the 9-hole course in 1972 and the expansion to 18 holes in 1985 – a forward-looking decision was made: The traditional and uniquely situated golf course was to be transformed into a modern facility that would meet all the demands of a first-class golf experience of the future.
With the internationally renowned golf architecture firm Olazabal Design as a partner, the golf course was raised to a new level: Fairways, greens and tees have been given a modern redesign, the playing experience has been significantly improved and the safety concept has also been carefully revised. Another highlight is the new, sustainable irrigation system with its own storage pond, which enables the course to be supplied with valuable rainwater completely autonomously – a forward-looking step in harmony with nature and the environment.

Modern training – more fun with the game
At the beginning of September 2025, the IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn presented the latest milestones in its golf development. Together with media representatives, personalities from politics and business as well as golf enthusiasts, the official opening of the new TrackMan Range was celebrated.
With eight state-of-the-art TrackMan boxes and a driving range extended to 300 meters, golfers can enjoy a top-class training experience – equipped with the latest technology, precise measurements and detailed analyses. The artificial turf in front of the TrackMan range means it can also be used outside the golf season – on beautiful, snow-free days.
In addition, the innovative TrackMan technology enables virtual rounds on more than 350 international golf courses. Whether on the legendary fairways of St. Andrews Links in Scotland, in the exotic ambience of Tokyo Gardens in Japan or on the spectacular coastline of Pebble Beach in California – here you can experience the whole variety of international golf without leaving the course.
Perfection in the short game
As an ideal addition to the TrackMan Range, a spacious Short Game Areawhich makes it possible to practice the short game in all its facets under realistic conditions. Pitching areas with varying distances, contoured chipping areas, an extensive practice green with different breaks and several bunkers with different levels of difficulty await you on around 7,000 m².
The fantastic location makes training a special experience: while you hone your technique, you can enjoy the unique view of the imposing Pichlarn Castle on one side and the majestic Grimming on the other.

On the way to Europe’s golf elite
Another important milestone was reached with the official opening of the new practice area: the official application for admission to the “Leading Courses ” – one of the most prestigious platforms for top international golf courses – was handed over to President Rudi Horn.
The unique combination of a 5-star resort in its unique, secluded location in the most beautiful alpine nature, a spacious wellness area covering 4,500 m², a variety of places of indulgence with award-winning cuisine and a state-of-the-art 18-hole golf course make the IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn a unique place of power for unforgettable golfing experiences.
“Our aim is to become one of the leading golf resorts in Austria and to be among the top 20 courses in Europe,” says Georg Imlauer.
The IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn thus impressively underlines its claim to position itself as one of the leading golf destinations in Europe.
