THE PLACE TO EXPLORE THE HISTORY

A journey through the history
of the IMLAUER Hotels & Restaurants

Key data since the company was founded in 1999

The Gasthaus StieglBräu, owned by the Stiegl brewery, opened its doors in 1912. In 1999, Georg and Ingrid Imlauer founded IMLAUER Hotel & Restaurant GmbH, which has been the tenant of the StieglBräu (now Hotel Bräu and Braurestaurant IMLAUER) ever since.

Since the company was founded, the IMLAUER banquet service has been an integral part of the “company DNA”. Normally, guests are looked after in the location of their choice in the greater Salzburg area, but the IMLAUER team has even traveled as far as London.

In 2000, the adjacent “Niedermayer-Haus” was acquired, which had previously housed the Quelle department store. After the partial opening in 2000, further planning and renovation work was carried out and the hotel was finally reopened as the 4-star Hotel IMLAUER Salzburg at the beginning of 2003.

Off to new shores, in 2004 the IMLAUER Group put out feelers to Vienna and found a charming mint-colored hotel in the 2nd district – a hotel by Salzburgers for Salzburgers in Vienna.

In 2009, the opportunity arose to take over and renovate the directly adjacent house. Without further ado, the room capacity was doubled and the Hotel Nestroy was expanded to include the Hotel IMLAUER Vienna.

In 1864, the Bergerbräu beer hall was opened in Westbahnstrasse (now Rainerstrasse). This historic hotel has been part of IMLAUER Hotels & Restaurants since 2008 and was completely renovated and redesigned in 2014-2016. The new heart of the hotel is the Pitter Event Center, which can accommodate both large meetings and glittering balls.

With the major renovation of the entire IMLAUER Hotel Pitter in 2014, the top floor was transformed into a gastronomic jewel, the IMLAUER Sky – Bar & Restaurant.

An institution since 1912 and one of the oldest beer cellars in Salzburg – the PitterKeller. With the takeover of the IMLAUER Hotel Pitter, this unique restaurant was also able to take its place among the IMLAUER restaurants.

A hotel with boutique hotel charm and a history dating back to the early 19th century has been part of the IMLAUER Hotels family since June 2019.

The Mirabell Coffee Bar was opened during the first year of the coronavirus crisis in 2020 and is particularly popular with local guests from the Andrä district.

The first 5-star hotel was taken over in 2021 and has since been continuously developed into one of the most sustainable and environmentally friendly hotels in Austria. The unique hotel experience includes a golf course, a spacious wellness and fitness area, event facilities and three gourmet restaurants.

The Restaurant Zirbe in the IMLAUER Hotel Schloss Pichlarn has always been known for its exceptional cuisine and rustic, cozy ambience and has been an important member of the IMLAUER gastronomy since 2021. The first-class culinary experience was only awarded a toque in the fall of 2023.

Sustainability and quality in every respect are top priorities at IMLAUER Schloss Pichlarn Landgut. The estate’s portfolio includes its own beehives, fruit trees, free-range chickens, water from its own six springs and its own photovoltaic system.
