EASTER IN VIENNA
In spring, Vienna attracts visitors with traditional Easter markets that invite them to stroll and browse. The offer ranges from brightly painted eggs in all colors and sizes, traditional crafts and handicrafts, to Easter jewelry and decorations as well as sweet Easter treats.
We introduce you to the three most beautiful Easter markets and give you tips on how best to reach them.
Easter market in front of Schönbrunn Palace
Probably the most beautiful Easter market in Vienna scores with its magnificent backdrop right in front of the beautiful Schönbrunn Palace. Here you can combine a visit to the Easter market with a tour of the castle.
Around 60 exhibitors will be there, as well as live music and a great children’s program.
Date: March 16 to April 2, 2024
Opening hours: Daily 10:00 to 18:00
How to get there: The “Nestroyplatz” subway station is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Take the U1 (red line) one stop to Schwedenplatz and change to the U4 subway line (green line). The U4 takes you directly to Schönbrunn Palace.

Easter market at the farm
Located in the heart of Vienna’s city center and surrounded by historic buildings, this Easter market will enchant you. Discover a wide range of culinary delights, handicrafts, specialties and curiosities from around 50 exhibitors.
Date: March 15 to April 1, 2024
Opening hours: Monday – Thursday 11:00 am to 8:00 pm; Friday – Sunday and Easter Monday 10:00 am to 8:00 pm; gastronomy until 9:00 pm
How to get there: The “Nestroyplatz” subway station is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Take the U1 (red line) for two stops to “Stephansplatz” and take the “Graben” exit. From there it is about a 10-minute walk along the Graben and then right through Bognergasse directly to the square “Am Hof”.
Old Viennese Easter market on the Freyung
It is only a few minutes’ walk from the Ostermarkt Am Hof to the Freyung. Easter culinary delights and handicrafts and a varied program of music and dance performances make this Easter market a special experience.
Date: March 15 to April 1, 2024
Opening hours: Daily from 10:00 to 20:00
Directions: You reach the Easter market as described above, but walk a few meters further to the Freyung.
Alternatively, you can change to the subway line U3 (orange line) at Stephansplatz and travel one stop to “Herrengasse” for the Easter Market Am Hof and the Old Viennese Easter Market on Freyung. From there it is about a five-minute walk to the left through Wallnerstraße and then to the right through Strauchgasse. On the left you will find the Easter market on the Freyung and on the right you will find the Easter market Am Hof.
