THE PLACE TO ENJOY

SALZBURG’S SWEETEST CREATION

Delicate, fluffy and golden brown, the three peaks of this famous and sugar-sweet Salzburg dessert rise from their shells. They are skillfully served by the waiter and portioned and arranged with great skill and elegant movements. Salzburger Nockerl are eaten with style and with great pleasure.

If you haven’t tried them yet, you should definitely do so. They belong to Salzburg like Sachertorte belongs to Vienna. You can enjoy this sweet temptation in any of our Salzburg restaurants, the IMLAUER brewery restaurantthe PitterKeller and the IMLAUER Sky -Bar & Restaurantand the Mirabell Coffee Bar to enjoy.

Three mountains, three peaks

According to legend, this fluffy delight has been around since the 17th century. It was made by none other than Salome Alt, the mistress of Archbishop Wolf Dietrich. This relationship resulted in 16 children and the laying of the foundation stone for the earliest buildings of Mirabell Palace.

The Salzburger Nockerl became a sugar-sweet hit thanks to the operetta “Saison in Salzburg”, which was also filmed in the 1960s under the title of the same name. The refrain of the waltz “Salzburger Nockerl” is what remains of it: “Salzburger Nockerl, Salzburger Nockerl, sweet as love and tender as a kiss”.

The three peaks of the Salzburger Nockerl are intended to symbolize Salzburg’s three local mountains: Mönchsberg, Kapuzinerberg and Gaisberg. Our tip: Enjoy the delicious dessert in the IMLAUER Sky, where you have a wonderful view of all three local mountains.
