WIKARUS 2024
The prestigious WIKARUS business prize was once again awarded at a major gala in Salzburg at the end of May. In a cooperation between the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce and the Province of Salzburg, as well as the Salzburger Sparkasse, the Salzburger Nachrichten and the ORF Salzburg regional studio, this year’s winners were selected and awarded the prestigious prize.
The philosophy behind the WIKARUS is to honor Salzburg companies that strengthen and revitalize Salzburg as a business location through their innovation and economic stability.
Company of the year
We are extremely proud that IMLAUER Hotel & Restaurant Ges.m.b.H. was awarded this year’s winner in the “Company of the Year” category. We are all the more delighted to have received this award in the very year in which we are celebrating our 25th company anniversary.
The prize is awarded to companies that stand out due to their economic performance as well as their regional significance. The following criteria evaluated:

IMLAUER Hotels & Restaurants
In 1999, Georg Imlauer and his wife Ingrid set up their own business – with a modest starting capital, but a great deal of courage and idealism. Courage, diligence and above all forward-looking visionswhich have been and continue to be actively implemented, characterize the family business and have enabled steady growth.
The company now has three locations (Salzburg, Vienna and Aigen in Styria) with six hotels and four restaurants/bars and employs around 480 people.
In order to remain fit for the future, the company relies on a strong apprenticeship program with the integration of adult apprenticeships, cooperation with regional partners, environmental protection and sustainability as the bearer of the “Austrian Ecolabel” and continuous investment.
Since last year, around 1.8 million euros have been invested in an upgrade of our Golf & Country Club Schloss Pichlarn in Styria since last year. The new golf course not only enhances the playing experience through innovative technical equipment and improved fairways, but also ensures greater sustainability. With a newly constructed reservoir and a modern irrigation system, the golf course will become even “greener”.
