THE PLACE TO BE IN LOVE

ROMANTIC IN VIENNA

Vienna is perfect for a romantic break from everyday life. A historic city backdrop straight out of a fairytale, wonderful viewpoints, lively city life and a diverse cultural offering, secluded spots in the countryside and plenty of space to spend quality time together.

Those who come to Vienna naturally do so to see all the wonderful sights and museums, go shopping or visit the opera. For a romantic break in Vienna, you also need time to cuddle, be in love and look each other tenderly in the eye.

Follow us to our favorite places for romance, sizzle and great moments for two!

Love goes through the stomach

There is no more romantic way to start the day than with breakfast in one of Vienna’s most beautiful squares. The Gloriette in Schönbrunn Palace Park offers magnificent views of the palace, the park and the city. Those who climb up to the roof of the Gloriette can enjoy particularly beautiful views.

With its historic building, large windows and stylish furnishings, Café Gloriette provides the perfect backdrop to feel like you’re back in imperial times. You can enjoy breakfast here from 9.00 am. The Sisi buffet is particularly recommended. It is always offered on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9.00 am. Please note: Please reserve in advance for the buffet!

If you can’t make it for breakfast, you can also treat yourself to lunch or come for coffee and cake in the afternoon.

The flower of love

How about a walk through the Volksgarten. It has existed since 1823 and has a very special romantic side. The garden enchants with its incredible splendor of roses. Over 3000 rose bushes adorn the Volksgarten, displaying over 200 rose varieties.

Numerous seating areas invite you to linger. Let the flower of love speak for itself while you look deep into the eyes of your loved one. She will be thrilled.

If you want to go one better, you can surprise your loved one by sponsoring one of the roses. Includes a sign with a personal dedication. However, free places are rare and waiting times are possible.

Under the flag of love

Row off into the sunset with your loved one. This is also possible in Vienna, on the Old Danube. A calm body of water, lots of greenery all around and the skyline of Donaucity in the distance. A postcard idyll made for some time together.

The nights of the full moon are particularly romantic. The boat rental companies on the Old Danube offer extended opening hours during the full moon nights in summer (May to August). There is also a bottle of Prosecco to go with it.

But it gets even more romantic on July 31, 2021. Then the Festival of Lights takes place again on the Old Danube. Numerous lights decorate the boats and the surrounding area and a magnificent firework display lights up the sky. Even if you don’t catch one of the coveted boats that evening, the spectacle is also wonderful to watch from the shore.

Aiming high with love

Fantastic views, romantic walks, hidden restaurants and delicious wine. The best place to enjoy this is Grinzing. Here you feel like you’ve stepped back in time and numerous pubs, the so-called Heurigen, invite you to linger and taste the wine.

You can also take a wonderful walk along the vineyards or through the adjacent Vienna Woods. A magnificent natural area with dense forests, beautiful viewpoints and numerous walking and hiking trails.

One of the most beautiful viewpoints is on the Cobenzl. It is easy to reach by car or bus from Grinzing and offers a magnificent view of Vienna.

The wheel of love turns

One of Vienna’s most important sights also takes you up high: the Vienna Giant Ferris Wheel. The Giant Ferris Wheel, which has been in existence since 1897, is one of the most beautiful places in Vienna to snuggle up together in love. And you can enjoy a fantastic view of Vienna at the same time.

For a perfect evening for two, you can hire one of the historic carriages. While the Giant Ferris Wheel makes its rounds, you can enjoy a delicious candlelight dinner with wonderful views of Vienna at night. Your heart will beat faster!
