THE PLACE FOR MAKING MEMORIES

CHRISTMAS 1970 AT THE HOTEL PITTER

The Hotel Pitter has always been a popular location for guests from all over the world at Christmas. All IMLAUER hotels and restaurants are also open on Christmas Eve and serve guests with festive menus and a Christmassy atmosphere.

Heinrich Muß worked as an apprentice at the Pitter in 1970 and took part in the Christmas singing performance as a singer. Mr. Muß remembers:

“It was December 24, 1970, around 11:00 pm. A Christmas poem and 3 Christmas carols (Leise rieselt der Schnee, Es wird scho glei dumpa and Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht) were performed by the apprentices of the Hotel Pitter in front of around 500 people (300 people in the large dining room and 200 people in the Marmorsaal) under the direction of restaurant manager Franz Bader. Mr. Karger or Kager sat at the piano. Back then, he played the piano twice a week in the evening in the old coffee house. There was only one such performance or song in this hotel, but I can still remember this evening very well. First the guests had to be provided with food and drink (most of them were Dutch nationals) and then, after a delay, they took to the stage. During the song Silent Night, Holy Night, all the Dutch guests stood up and folded their hands. We singers were very impressed and we also got a lot of applause and the tips were also right on the day.”

From the typewritten memoirs of Heinrich Muß, 2014
