THE PLACE TO ENJOY

SUMMER EVENTS IN VIENNA

Vienna has long been known for its great events and unique activities in summer. The historical ambience combined with modern city flair and cool events make Vienna a real highlight for summer vacationers.

Sip cocktails in the evening, enjoy culture in the open air or get to know the city from a completely different angle. We have put together our favorite summer events in Vienna for you.

Music at its finest

For the 33rd time this summer, the beautiful square in front of the neo-Gothic Vienna City Hall will be the hotspot of the summer. From July 1 to September 3, 2023, the

Film Festival on the town hall square

will once again show great concerts, operas and music films.

On a huge screen you can experience world stars from opera, classical music, pop, rock, jazz, dance, world music and musicals. And all this with free admission!

The Film Festival is rounded off by excellent gastronomy. Several stands offer international cuisine as well as typical Austrian specialties, sweet treats and cool drinks.

Romantic under a full moon

Those who prefer to spend time together should take advantage of the full moon nights to get to know Vienna from a completely different perspective. During the

full moon trips

on the Old Danube, the boat rental companies extend their opening hours.

Hire a boat with your loved one and row across the calm waters of the Old Danube. The full moon transforms the green paradise on the banks into a romantic scene and the skyline of Donaucity shines in the distance.

Make a reservation in good time for the Radio Wien Festival of Lights on July 22, 2023 or for one of the upcoming full moon nights: July 3, August 1 or August 31, 2023.

Cinema in the open air

For most visitors to Vienna, the Museumsquartier with its great museums is a must-see on their city trip. The beautiful inner courtyard is a much-used meeting place for Viennese people and also attracts visitors with its gastronomic offerings.

In summer, from July 14 to September 2, 2023, the Museumsquartier will also become an

open-air cinema

. Every Friday and Saturday, 8 Austrian and international films are shown in Hof. This is preceded by an audience discussion with film teams and cultural professionals. Admission is free! In case of bad weather, the cinema moves to the MQ Arena 21.

Cultural enjoyment in the park

For those who prefer theater and cabaret, the

Theater in the Park

a great cultural experience in a beautiful setting.

Palais Schwarzenberg, right next to Belvedere Palace, is opening its private park until September 16, 2023, offering a special cultural experience with cabaret & comedy, music, theater, discussions and lectures.

Let the puppets dance

The marionette theater at Schönbrunn Palace fascinates children and adults alike. During the summer months (June 1 – September 30, 2023), the puppets move into the castle courtyard to the

summer stage

.

This year, Mozart’s Magic Flute is on the open-air program. Every Wednesday to Saturday from 8.00 pm (from September 7.30 pm) you can enjoy the magical play of the puppets with the well-known melodies from Mozart’s opera.

From Friday to Sunday there are also children’s performances at 5.30 pm (from September at 5.00 pm).
